1-MINUTE RESUME FOR STEVE BUSCEMI
Interested in acting since high school, Buscemi moved to Manhattan upon graduation to study at the famed Lee Strasberg Institute. He began writing and performing original theatre pieces with fellow actor/writer Mark Boone Junior, which led to his being cast in his first lead role in
Parting Glances (1986). Since then, he has worked with many of the top filmmakers in Hollywood, including Quentin Tarantino, Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Bay and The Coen Brothers. He's typically cast as oddball, often creepy characters, such as the memorable roles in
Reservoir Dogs,
Fargo and
Ghost World. He moved to directing with acclaimed (and also indie) flicks
What Happened to Pete (1992) and
Trees Lounge (1996). He moved beyond indie cred when he starred in and directed several episodes of HBO's
The Sopranos, for which he earned Emmy nods.
