Sandra Bullock Biography

Unlike today's young starlets, Sandra Bullock actually paid her dues, having spent years studying acting at East Carolina University before traveling to New York City to train for the stage. Her first big break came with the TV series Working Girl, but after that show flopped, it wasn't until 1993 that she made her first notable appearance on the big screen, with Demolition Man. The next year she landed the part that made her a superstar: Speed. Since that Keanu Reeves actioner, Bullock's starred in everything from romantic comedies (Miss Congeniality) to indie dramas (Crash).


1. She dropped out of East Carolina University three credits shy of graduation to study acting in New York City.
2. In January 2005, Bullock donated $1 million for tsunami relief.
3. As a cheerleader in high school, she was voted "Most Likely to Brighten Up Your Day."
