1-MINUTE RESUME FOR MICHAEL CERA
The middle brother of two sisters raised just outside of Toronto, Cera knew he'd be an actor before he hit preschool. Although he appeared in local television commercials at age nine, his first true role followed at the age of ten, when he voiced the character of Little Gizmo in the television series
Rolie Polie Olie. He branched out to feature films in 2000 with roles in
Steal This Movie,
Frequency and
Ultimate G's before landing the role of the young Chuck Barris in
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002). Perhaps best known as George Michael Bluth in the highly acclaimed TV series
Arrested Development, he since has taken it up a notch with his portrayal as the nerdy high schooler Evan in the naughty comedy
Superbad (2007).
5 Things:
1. His father, Luigi, comes from Sicily, Italy, and his mother, Linda, comes from Montreal, Quebec.
2. He is in a band called the Long Goodbye with Clark Duke and Christian Buenaventura.
3. He lent his voice to two animated series, Braceface and The Berenstein Bears.
4. His crush growing up was Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell, played by Tiffani Thiessen.
5. As a kid, he was obsessed with becoming Bill Murray, the star of Ghostbusters. He watched the 1984 film over and over when he was four and, to this day, still carries a Ghostbusters wallet.
Quote:
"I always kind of end up in situations where I don't know too many people, and I'm not very social, and I feel, you know, extremely uncomfortable. But there's some secret pleasure I take in things
going horribly wrong."
