Kevin Bacon Biography

His movie debut in 1978's Animal House didn't lead to insta-fame, but despite that, Bacon still refused a television series based on Animal House in lieu of New York stage acting. Six years later, he garnered strong reviews in the box-office smash Footloose, and later appeared on the cover of People. But post-Footloose and the preceding Diner, Bacon feared that he had branded a typecast. Enter a career slump, which included roles that were very consciously against his type. But by 1991, Bacon was back, stunning audiences in 1991's JFK, 1992's A Few Good Men and 1994's The River Wild, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He's enjoyed consistent success and critical praise in 1996's Sleepers, 2003's Mystic River and 2004's The Woodsman.
