Gael Garcia Bernal Biography

His celebrity began as a teen heartthrob on soap operas in his native country, but Bernal left that world behind at age 19 to study acting in London. He appeared on Hollywood's radar playing a street thug in the critically lauded Amores Perros (2000), followed by another wowing performance in Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001). In The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), his portrayal of revolutionary Che Guevara earned him a Best Actor nomination from BAFTA. In his short, yet impressive career, he's worked with a number of acclaimed directors, including Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel) and Pedro Almodóvar (Bad Education).
