Les (Steve Buscemi) is a celebrity photographer who can't catch a break. Desperate to get a scoop, Les befriends a young homeless dude, Toby (Michael Pitt), who has similar dreams of becoming an actor. But then Toby accidentally runs into a hot pop star, K'Harma Leeds (Alison Lohman), and the two develop an instant attraction. Being seen with the right person may be just what Toby needs to get his career going, but will he leave his ol' pal Les behind in the dust?
