Daniel Craig Biography

After a successful career on the British stage and screen, Daniel Craig crossed the Atlantic and accumulated supporting roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Road to Perdition and a starring role in Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated Munich. You could say he was the opposite of famous when, in 2005, he was cast as the sixth 007 in Casino Royale. This stirred much controversy among James Bond fans, many of whom vehemently disagreed with the decision to cast the blonde actor. Although the court of public opinion may be out on whether Craig is good for the role, he signed a three-picture deal to play Bond.


1. Some say the 5-foot-11 actor is too short to play Bond.
2. He dated Kate Moss for a brief period.
3. His comedic favorites are Woody Allen and the Marx brothers.
4. During the filming of Casino, these rumors about Craig surfaced: his tooth got knocked out during a fight scene, he was afraid of guns, he got a heat rash, and he couldn't drive stick, therefore unable to operate Bond's Aston Martin (all were denied by his publicist).
5. His mother was an art teacher, and his father was a steel worker and pub owner.
