1-MINUTE RESUME FOR AMY ADAMS
After a saturated stint peforming in dinner theaters in Colorado and Minnesota, Adams received her first feature role in 1999's teen comedy
Drop Dead Gorgeous. Then in 2002, Adams turned heads (including Leonardo DiCaprio's) as a naive candy-striper in
Catch Me If You Can. Finally, as an optimistic and overly pregnant Southern belle in
Junebug, Adams received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2006.
5 Things:
1. When forced to wear the customary, skimy outfit, she quit her waitress job at Hooters at age 18.
2. Because of her father's military career, she was born in Italy, then raised in Castle Rock, Colorado.
3. As one of seven children, she hails from a Mormon family of a "bunch of hams," thanks to her father who wrote scripts for all to perform.
4. She has naturally light red hair.
5. Before dinner theater, she worked as a dancer and had her heart set on Broadway before realizing her calling was in film.
Quote:
On nervous eating during
Catch Me If You Can: "If I had the flu, I might not eat. But other than that, when I'm nervous: I eat. When I'm upset: I eat. I'm one of those nacho girls; like fat Mexican food is the only thing that's going to fix it."
